Bahrain Corporate Tax in 2026: Current Rules and the Draft CIT

Bahrain does not currently have a broad corporate income tax for ordinary businesses. Separate rules apply to oil and gas activities and qualifying multinational groups, while a wider corporate tax remains a proposal rather than enacted law.

    01

    What applies today

Most local companies are not subject to a general corporate income tax. Bahrain applies a Domestic Minimum Top-up Tax to in-scope multinational groups, and the oil and gas sector has separate taxation.

    02

    The proposed corporate tax

A draft corporate income tax has been discussed for a future start date. Until legislation and detailed rules are enacted, businesses should not treat the proposal as current law.
